Did you know there were 21 Dodge dealers in Albany, New York alone? Imagine how many there are across the rest of the state. Dodge Albany New York must be very popular. If anyone is in Albany, please let me know why so many more Dodge's are looked for in Albany than anywhere else. It's a mystery.
Still, Dodge makes some great new cars. They are trying to regain market share they lost to foreign carmakers over the last several decades, and they are doing it. Unlike Jeep New York, which specializes in a certain genre of car, Dodge New York has a variety so wide that anyone can find a car they like.
New and upated in 2006:
In the car segment, you've got the Caliber, a four-door hatchback sedan at the lower end of the price range. The Stratus sedan, a little bigger, also has four doors and incredible aerodynamics. The new Charger is pretty cool; they've taken a classic and updated it nicely. The Magnum I'm still undecided on. It's a powerful-looking station wagon with an available Hemi, but how many people really want a powerful-looking station wagon?
Industry-leading Dodge Caravan, in all its forms, is still there. I really like the new stow and go seating and wish they had that when we bought our Grand Caravan in 2001.
In the SUV category, the Durango is billed as a mid-size SUV with full-sized power. I haven't been in one of these new ones, but they look pretty cool. Dodge is introducing a new, mini-SUV called the "Nitro" which looks fairly turdy.
Trucks are really where Dodge has been shining. The Dakota pickup has an available V8 and it's big brother RAM is even bigger and faster. The Ram SRT 10 is the fastest full-size pickup on the road today. Of course, if you're hauling stuff around (which is the reason you bought a pickup in the first place, right?) why do you need it to be the fastest?
My favorite? The new Viper. This bad boy has 510 horses under the hood and 535 lb-ft of torque. Oh yeah! Now, where's that extra $90 grand I had laying around here?
